MATTA’S SUSTAINABILITY EXCHANGE IN ITB BERLIN 2024

KUALA LUMPUR, 29 February 2024 - The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) will participate in the prominent travel trade exhibition ITB Berlin from 5 - 7 March 2024. The MATTA booth will feature a diverse and thrilling range of experiential tourism products spanning 3 states in Malaysia.

Our members and partners from the states of Perak, Sabah, and Selangor are eager to meet current and prospective customers looking for exceptional tourism products that provide a unique cultural, social, and educational experience for travellers. We will also be highlighting the many eco-tourism offerings that Malaysia is so famous for.

Ganneesh Ramaa, MATTA’s Vice President Inbound & Domestic says, “Our team this year is large, with our President Nigel Wong in attendance. Delegations from Perak, Sabah, and Selangor state tourism offices, along with 14 trade industry players from Malaysia will also be present.”

“We aim to showcase the various aspects of our destinations and highlight our capability to accommodate a wide range of visitors, travel preferences, and interests”, he added.

The MATTA “Sustainability Exchange” with the European Travel Agents’ and Tour Operators’ Associations (ECTAA), the Dutch Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (ANVR) and the German Travel Association (DRV) will be taking place on Day 2 (6 March 2024) of the show.

“MATTA and its partners, both local and regional, are taking the lead in pushing the sustainable tourism agenda in Malaysia (and in ASEAN) in line with UN Tourism Sustainable Development Goals. This Exchange will highlight some of the initiatives MATTA is rolling out to kickstart a private sector driven effort. The insights from our European counterparts gained through the Exchange will be of immense help in enriching our programs as well as developing tourism products to cater to the growing trend of travellers seeking more responsible tourism experiences when they visit Malaysia”, exclaimed Nigel Wong.

Mr. Erik Dresin, Secretary General of ECTAA (European Union), Mr. Frank Radstake, Director of ANVL (Netherlands), and Dr Martin Post, Speaker on Federal and European Politics & Cruise at DRV (Germany), will be leading the presentation and discussion.

Day 2 will also feature the launch of 4 paintings of endangered wildlife (one of them a 3x3 meter portrait of the Malayan Tiger) by digital artist Ms. Rachel Gray which is part of the MATTA Sustainable Tourism Project.

Rachel Gray, a British artist who specialises in wildlife portraiture, will be there in person to engage with visitors at the MATTA stand. She says "It is an absolute pleasure and an honour to be here, I am delighted to be continuing the collaboration with Nigel and MATTA at this great event (ITB Berlin 2024). This collection consists only of Malaysian Wildlife, including the majestic Malaysian Tiger. It's wonderful to see them (the wildlife) at the forefront”.

Meet us at our booth in Berlin (Hall 26A, stand 103, 104 & 105) to talk about the newest product innovations and updates on our destinations’ immersive experiences and take the opportunity to receive firsthand knowledge from our specialists on how to enhance your business in our country.
