KUALA LUMPUR, 9 OCTOBER 2025 – The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) today officially announced the launch of the inaugural MATTA Muslim Friendly Travel Fair (MFTF), a transformative initiative that positions Malaysia at the forefront of the global Muslim-friendly tourism movement.
Set to take place on 18–19 October 2025 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL), the Fair will be held in Tun Razak Hall 4, spanning 2,700 square metres. With 114 booths confirmed and 54 participating organisations, the MFTF is prepared to become Malaysia’s most comprehensive showcase of faith-based travel experiences, inclusive hospitality, and culturally respectful tourism solutions.
Speaking at the press conference, MATTA President Nigel Wong emphasised the Fair’s strategic importance in responding to the surging global demand for Muslim-friendly travel, a market projected to exceed USD 300 billion by 2030.
“Muslim-friendly travel is not a niche; it is a global movement. It involves halal-certified services, prayer facilities, modest leisure options, and family-oriented experiences. Malaysia is uniquely positioned to lead this space, and MATTA is proud to champion it through MFTF,” said Wong.
He added that the Fair reflects MATTA’s broader mission to create platforms that connect travellers with industry players, cultivate innovation, and promote Malaysia as a preferred international destination.
Dr. Fazil Khan Abdul Kadir, Organising Chairman of MFTF, shared key operational highlights and the Fair’s inclusive design:
“Our goal is to create a welcoming, informative, and inspiring space for families, travel enthusiasts, and industry professionals. Visitors will find halal food options, prayer facilities, and curated travel packages including authorised Umrah and Hajj tours, Islamic heritage experiences, and wellness retreats aligned with Islamic values.”
He noted that the Fair will feature:
-
Exclusive promotions on domestic and international travel packages
-
Family-friendly activities and entertainment
-
Easy access via public transport to encourage sustainable attendance
-
Interactive forums and cultural showcases to deepen understanding of Muslim-friendly tourism
Dr. Fazil also extended an open invitation to more industry players to participate, reinforcing MATTA’s commitment to collaboration and sector-wide growth.
The success of MFTF is made possible through the support of key partners and sponsors:
-
RHB Bank Berhad – Exclusive Platinum Sponsor
-
Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) – Strategic Partner
-
Hwajing Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd – Official Cruise Liner
-
Mayoly Pharma – Supporting Sponsor
Their involvement reflects a shared vision to elevate Malaysia’s tourism offerings and expand the reach of Muslim-friendly travel solutions.
Malaysia continues to rank among the world’s top destinations for Muslim travellers, thanks to its robust halal certification system, multicultural society, and strong government support. MFTF reinforces this leadership by offering a platform that blends tradition, innovation, and hospitality.
“This Fair is a celebration of diversity, a bridge between values and destinations, and a catalyst for economic and cultural growth,” said Wong.
“It’s not just an event; it’s a movement. One that invites the world to experience Malaysia’s warmth, respect, and readiness to serve the needs of modern Muslim travellers,” added Dr. Fazil.
MFTF is open to the public from 10am to 9pm on Saturday and Sunday, 18–19 October 2025. Visitors are encouraged to use public transport to reduce carbon emissions. On-site parking is also available.
