MATTA COLLABORATES WITH THAI COUNTERPARTS TO PROMOTE VM2026

BANGKOK, 29 July 2024 – The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) is delighted to announce a strategic collaboration with the Thai Travel Agents Association (TTAA) and the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) to promote the much-anticipated Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign. This collaborative program aims to boost tourism exchanges between Malaysia and Thailand by highlighting the distinctive travel experiences that each nation has to offer.

In keeping with MATTA's commitment to promoting Malaysia, the MATTA Management Committee travelled to Bangkok to meet with its counterparts. The partnership intends to use Malaysia and Thailand's growing travel sectors to build a synergistic strategy that benefits both nations. By working closely with TTAA and ATTA, MATTA seeks to foster a stronger sense of connection and mutual promotion between the two surrounding nations, so increasing the travel experience for visitors from all over the world.

Key Highlights of the Collaboration Include:

Tourism Exchange Programs: Special initiatives will be developed to encourage travel exchanges and cooperation tour packages, enabling tourists to visit both nations in a single, seamless experience.

Trade Shows and Roadshows: Collaboration in major travel trade events and roadshows to attract international travel agencies and tour operators, emphasising the advantages of visiting Malaysia and Thailand in 2026. Participating in the MATTA Fair in Kuala Lumpur and Thailand International Travel Fair in Bangkok.

Cultural and Educational Events: Hosting collaborative events and workshops to educate travel experts and the general public about the rich cultural legacy and distinct attractions of both destinations.

TTAA has made several significant requests, including the need for direct flights to Sabah and improved promotion of lesser-known Malaysian destinations such as Perak, Melaka, and Kedah, particularly Langkawi.

Nigel Wong, President of MATTA, expressed enthusiasm for the relationship, saying, "We are thrilled to work with TTAA and ATTA to promote VM2026. This program represents a tremendous opportunity for Malaysia and Thailand to expand their tourist offerings and create great travel experiences. Working together, we can generate more interest and visitation to our regions, highlighting the finest of Southeast Asia."

Ms. Wachira Wichaiwatana, TTAA Advisor, reiterated this attitude, stating, "Our collaboration with MATTA is a strategic step towards strengthening ties between our countries and improving the travel experience for visitors." We hope that this collaboration would not only increase tourism but also develop economic and cultural ties between Thailand and Malaysia."

ATTA President, Mr. Sisdivachr Cheewarattanaporn, stated, "The collaboration between our organisations will enable us to reach a larger audience and produce attractive travel packages that reflect the beauty and diversity of both Thailand and Malaysia. We are excited to see how this relationship can benefit our tourism sectors."
