MATTA Contributes RM 100,000 to Tabung Harapan Malaysia

PUTRAJAYA, 2 October 2018: The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA), Malaysia’s leading travel association, today contributed RM 100,000 to the Tabung Harapan Malaysia to support the efforts of the Government.  

The amount was collected through the recent Kuala Lumpur MATTA Fair 7 – 9 September 2018, of which RM1 from every RM4 entrance ticket goes to Tabung Harapan Malaysia. MATTA expresses our deepest gratitude to the visitors for coming to the Fair and be part of the contributors. The MATTA Fair attracted 93,084 visitors with about RM210 million in overall sales transaction.

MATTA President, Datuk Tan Kok Liang said, “MATTA is pleased to contribute to the THM towards a better nation and to support the cause and strengthening the nation's economic condition. This fulfilled the association’s pledge to support the Government especially in tourism industry, which is a key sector in the nation’s economy, as it continued its significant contribution to the country’s economic growth with a share of 14.9%, RM201.4 billion in 2017.”

“We trust that the Tabung Harapan contribution from Malaysians will be a catalyst for the government to build a stronger nation and our collaborations with federal and states governments would eventually produce robust tourism strategies and directions to harness the huge potential of the tourism industry to boost our  economy.”

A cheque presentation ceremony was held today at the Ministry of Transport, where Datuk Tan Kok Liang, President of MATTA presented the cheque to YB  Anthony Loke, Minister of Transport, Malaysia on behalf of the Government.

At the same event, MATTA submitted its proposals for the travel and tour industry to YB Anthony Loke which focus on three categories of transportation; Land Transportation, Air Transportation and Cruise Liners.
