KL Tan re-elected as MATTA boss

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Tan Kok Liang of Borneo Trails Tours & Travel Sdn Bhd has been re-elected as the President of Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) for the second consecutive term, 2019-2021.

MATTA held its 44th Annual General Meeting last saturday at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), here.

Tan's goals were focused on creating better business opportunities for members and equipping them to face changes and challenges in a fast-evolving business environment.

His commitment and hard work ear-ed him the overwhelming support of MATTA members who acknowledged his achievements and entrusted him to lead MATTA in the next two years.

Tan intends to continue his work in creating more opportunities and fighting for better
regulatory and business conditions for MATTA members.

Tan will involve leveraging on technology to help members maintain a competitive edge in an increasingly disruptive business environment.

Priorities for the next two years include development of the MATTA Tourism Industry Distribution and Booking Platform, leveraging on e-hailing platforms, collaborating with Petronas for members incentive and combating illegal travel agents in collaboration with Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), as a medium to eductae the consumers at large.

The newly elected Executive Council for term 2019-2021 will be stepping up engagement with all major industry principals and stakeholders at both national and state level to up-scale the standard and delivery of travel and tourism services in Malaysia.

Tan will be assisted- by his deputy, Haji Mohd Akil Bin Mohd Yusof, with Mohammad Faeez Mohamad Fadhlilah as treasurer.

MATTA members also elected five vice presidents, Jimmy Thoo Choy, Cynthia Tan Bee Sim, Shazli Affuat Ghazali, Subramanian AJL Kandasamy, Mohd Azri Abd Razak, Kong Chun Yen @ Christina and Mohd Hizzat Mohd Shah. MATTA also has 14 Chapter chairmen in various states.
