Additional Info

Kindly be informed that MATTA is organizing a 1-day Contingency Plans Workshop on 24 September 2018 at Furama Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.

INTRODUCTION
Many organisations have Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for handling routine matters but not for emergencies.  Should crisis or disasters occur, damage must be contained swiftly to minimise harm to people, property and reputation.

LEARNING OUTCOME
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to determine the best approach in setting up Contingency Plans within their own organisations. Participants would learn how to identify possible problems and risks associated with their organisations and also that of the industry and public. They would realise the need to adopt more than one solution to manage any disaster or emergency situation, and discover how others are likely to react in a crisis and respond with appropriate actions.

FACILITATOR
Mr. YS Chan started his career in the travel industry in 1973 as a tourist guide in Mayflower and worked his way up to Tours Coordinator, Maintenance Manager, Car Rental Manager and Fleet Operations Manager. From 1992 onwards, he served as General Manager in seven companies: Cloud Ten, Ken-Air, Mandarin, CityLimo, Mayleisure, Asia Experience and Delta Trend. In between, he was running MATTA School of Tourism and later served as Consultant. In recent years, he was the Liaison Manager in MATTA HQ.

Chan is also a writer and columnist with over 1,800 publications in the Star, New Straits Times, Malay Mail, Sun, Free Malaysia Today, Malaysiakini, Motorme and others. He is an ASEAN Master Tourism Trainer for Travel Agencies, Master Trainer for Courteous Malaysia Workshop and Travel and Tour Enhancement Course. He is an industry consultant for car rental and leasing; hire cars, limousines and metered taxis; stage, express and excursion buses and vans; travel, tours and event management companies; mystery shopper and Contingency Plans Consultant and trainer.

WHAT METHODOLGY?
The workshop is conducted mainly in English but participants are free to use any other language for better expression. It is highly interactive and participants are encouraged to share experiences and ideas. Towards the end of the workshop, participants would be grouped to practise setting up sample Contingency Plans, which will be presented to all for feedback and appraisal by facilitator.
