MATTA signs MoU with Saudi parties to promote Umrah travel

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Asfar Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and Fursan Convention & Exhibition to promote and enhance Umrah travel to Saudi Arabia.

This will be done through networking, marketing and promotional activities between travel agents of both countries.

The MoU was signed by MATTA Umrah and Haj vice president Shahrulnezam Mohd Daud, Asfar Kingdom deputy chairman Samir Abdul Fatani and Fursan Convention & Exhibition chairman Zairul Annuar Mohd Zin.

A core element of the MoU is to organise the first Umrah business-to-business session which is scheduled for July 2, 2018 in Kuala Lumpur.

There are about one million pilgrims who perform their Umrah and Haj yearly from the region, and MATTA is taking the opportunity to shape Umrah travel and to facilitate the business of Bumiputera tour operators when they meet with their counterparts from Saudi Arabia.

Shahrulnezam said the collaboration plays a significant role in enhancing Umrah travel, providing more business opportunities for members to exchange ideas, build networking, partnership and expand their market.

“With this MoU, we will be able to raise cooperation level between MATTA, Asfar Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and Fursan Convention & Exhibition and leverage on each other’s technical knowledge and expertise for the expansion and growth of both nations’ travel and tourism industry,” he said.
