'Make safety training a priority'

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) is urging the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) to engage private sector of the tourism industry to make safety training a priority.

MATTA President Datuk Tan Kok Liang said, "We think that Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, Chairman of NIOSH should angage directly with tourism industry leaders and agencies such as MATTA'.

"As a national institute, NIOSH should not limit itself to making arms-length statements to the press but should take proactive and practical steps to engage various industries', he said in a statement on Friday.
