MATTA says 'travel safe travel smart' to Chinese tourists

KOTA KlNABALU: The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) has reminded remind all visitors to be vigilant and to take the necessary precautionary measures especially since it is currently jelly fish season. Visitors are advised to check with their dive operators and resorts before venturing into the waters.

In a statement on Thursday, its president Datuk Tan Kok Liang advised that "for visitors traveling to the East Coast of Sabah, especially to the dive resorts off Semporna, we highly advise that visitors engage only with licensed dive operators, resorts and registered boat operators for their general safety, to avoid being cheated and to ensure an all-round pleasant holiday."

"For your best travel experience and safety during this high season, we reiterate all tourists to book in advance for the island transfers and dive excursions," he emphasised.

"We shall soon usher into the year of the Rat in this upcoming Chinese New Year (Spring Festival). The local communities have been gearing up towards this celebration and we cordially invite all of you to join the State Chinese New Year Open House on the 26th of January 2020 from IOam to 2pm at the Hakka Hall, Kota Kinabalu," he added, while also expressing the association's wish for a happy and prosperous Chinese New Year and a fantastic holiday in Sabah to all Chinese tourists.
