Digital Branding Workshop For Empowering MATTA Members To Compete Effectively Online

KOTA KINABALU, 1 February 2018: The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) organised a digital marketing workshop, ‘Accelerate Your Business through Digital Branding’ for its members in Kota Kinabalu today.

The two-day workshop officiated by MATTA President Datuk Tan Kok Liang is one of the many initiatives for members to upskill knowledge in digital marketing in order to compete more effectively.

During the two-day event, participants gained in-depth knowledge on the benefits of technology solutions, including digital skills and feedback mechanisms used for digital branding. The trainer for the workshop is a top creative marketing programme instructor with over 10 years career experience in digital marketing and web development with courses conducted to over 1000 top entrepreneurs across countries.

MATTA President said, “With the rapid growth of tech-savvy generation, a strategy that focuses on digital at the centre of operations will be essential for businesses. It is important for travel and tour agencies to adapt and implement technology solutions to remain competitive and stay relevant.”

“Travellers from all over the world are not only technology-savvy but are now also technology-dependent. According to a report by Tourism Malaysia, 89.9% of inbound and domestic travellers used the internet as source of information to search travel information, visualise travel destinations, getting reviews and share travel experiences. The breakdown of their usage are 28.8% search engine, 27.0% websites, 13.9% travel review sites, 11.8% social media, 11.1% online travel provider and 3.7% travel blogs.”

“MATTA is optimistic that such workshop will improve members professionalism and service quality in embarking digital platforms while building strong business brands and holiday destinations in Sabah.”

“Similar programmes will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor under MATTA Vice President Education and Training, Puan Christina Wahida Kong.”

“Currently, MATTA together with the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) and the National ICT Association of Malaysia (PIKOM) are working closely to set up a giant online platform to offer travellers the most comprehensive and wide-ranging products to choose from”, concluded Tan.
